The increasingly complex and unpredictable world makes increased demands of the learner and worker. This requires that we adopt more creative approaches to work and learning, for us to innovate in search of newer, more viable solutions and to increase our productivity.
Our creative processes tend to follow a path of self-direction and collaboration; creation and self-directedness are intertwined. A self-directed learner becomes a source of creation and can push himself forward to uncover gaps, gather knowledge and resources, plan ahead, and work towards closing these gaps. The ability to identify gaps and close them through the application of knowledge is a mark of innovation. Collectively, an organisation or society benefits by being more creative as a result.
