Pacific Conference on Distance and Lifelong Learning

Conference

 16 October 2016 08:00 AM
San Francisco, California, United States of America
Event from 14 October 2016 08:00 AM to 16 October 2016 04:00 PM

In an earlier era, B.F. Skinner once said: “Education is what survives when what has been learned has been forgotten”. While there remains much truth in that sentiment, today there are opportunities to reinforce and extend the learning process in ways unimagined by prior generations. Most universities offer continuing education, adult education and non-degree certificate programs, usually through technology-driven delivery systems no longer constrained by time and space. Third-party bundlers such as Coursera have emerged, allowing individual educators to reach previously unimaginably large audiences anywhere in the world, with courses on virtually any topic of interest. This conference focuses on these emerging developments in education, and invites presentations that examine their structure and delivery, assesses their quality, and more generally explores the extent to which these are disruptive innovations.
