Lagos State University, LASU, Ojo, has expressed joy on the approval of its Open and Distance Learning and Research Institute, ODLRI, by the National Universities Commission ,NUC after a recent assessment of the Institute’s facilities.
ODLRI established by the Prof. Olanrewaju Adigun Fagbohun-led administration to replace LASU External System, LASUES, to afford candidates who failed to gain admission into regular programmes the opportunity to pursue first degree, was disaccredited by NUC last March over quality assurance issues. However, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Fagbohun, who received NUC, assured the Executive Secretary of NUC, Professor Abubakar Rasheed, that LASU-ODLRI headed by Prof. Peter Okebukola, an ex-NUC Executive Secretary, would uphold standard in delivery quality university education in Africa. According to him, “LASU will set a good standard in the delivery of quality education in African. The approved take-off programme is the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.” On his part, Ademola Adekoya, Coordinator, Centre for Information, Press and Public Relations, CIPPR said: “LASU-ODLRI has several unique features as course contents are pitched above NUC minimum standards with slant on 21-century skills especially critical thinking, teamwork, entrepreneurship and digital literacy.”
