INDIANAPOLIS -A distance education research group ranks Ivy Tech Community College as the top community college in the United States with students taking at least one distance education course. Digital Learning Compass ranks the school in the top 15 overall in its 2017 Distance Education Enrollment Report.
The report ranks the school 13th out of the country's top 50 institutions overall in its Distance Education Enrollment Report.
The report analyzes distance education trends among higher education institutions throughout the United States. It suggests distance learning around the country grew nearly 4 percent between 2015 and 2016, which is a higher growth rate than two previous years.
Ivy Tech Vice President of Academic Innovation and Support Kara Monroe calls distance education "part of the fabric of Ivy Tech." The school says it offers more than 1,000 online courses in more than 15 programs statewide. It says, for the spring 2017 semester, more than 36,000 students were enrolled for at least one distance education course.
