Distance learning: a flexible study option

06/24/2016

Distance learning is a great study option, which allows students to fit their education around work and home life commitments. It is often a convenient way to gain a vocational qualification and, of course, it doesn’t matter where you live – it is possible to gain a degree from anywhere in the world.

Did you know that SOAS University of London is the largest provider of postgraduate distance learning courses in the University of London’s International Programmes? SOAS has over 20 years of experience in delivering distance learning programmes, and has over 4000 students in 160 countries? Graduates of SOAS distance learning courses include former PMs, Heads of State and Nobel Prize Winners.

SOAS currently has three centres offering distance learning courses. These are the Centre for Financial and Management Studies (CeFiMS), the Centre for Development, Environment and Policy (CeDEP), and the Centre for International Studies and Diplomacy (CISD).

CeFiMS offers courses in Finance, Financial Law, International Management and Public Management. Students are able to choose from an extensive range of modules, including Banking Strategy, the Derivatives Market, Public Policy and Strategy, and Law and Internet Banking.

CeDEP recognises that environmental issues and the continuing poverty of large numbers of people around the world are among the greatest challenges of our times. The Centre offers teaching in the subject areas of Sustainable Development, Poverty Reduction, and Environmental Management.

There are currently opportunities for CeDEP graduates in Vietnam and Myanmar to become part of Mekong Economics Ltd’s Young Professionals’ scheme. The deadline for applications is 20 August.

CISD runs a distance learning programme in MA Global Diplomacy. The course provides a rigorous theoretical and practical understanding of international affairs and contemporary diplomatic practice.

All SOAS distance learning courses have been designed and written specifically for study by distance learners, and the University of London qualification is recognised around the world for its high standards.

Students are assisted throughout their studies by a team of support staff and expert tutors via an online learning environment and a global network of professional contacts.
