The Texas Distance Learning Association will honor Justin Louder, assistant vice provost for Texas Tech, for his work in advancing distance learning from March 28 through March 31 in San Antonio.

The TxDLA is the leading Texas association for distance learning, according to a Tech news release, and it will award Louder and three other recipients of its Outstanding Commitment to Excellence and Innovation in Distance Education award.

Louder has worked to improve Tech’s Worldwide eLearning program, according to the release, and the program has been ranked as one of the best online programs by U.S. News and World Report for the last four years. It was recognized for its graduate computer information technology, online graduate engineering and online graduate education programs.

Tech has six regional teaching sites across Texas, according to the release, including ones in El Paso, Highland Lakes, Waco, Junction, Fredericksburg and Collin County.

The Worldwide eLearning motto is “you don’t have to live in Lubbock to pursue your education through Texas Tech,” according to the release, and it offers more than 50 degree, certification and certification preparation programs online.

This year, U.S. News and World Report also ranked Tech as offering one of the best online bachelor’s programs for the first time, according to the release.

“I am honored and humbled to be recognized by the Texas Distance Learning Association for the work I’ve been doing with Texas Tech’s Worldwide eLearning program,” Louder said in the release. “Texas Tech is committed to excellence in all of our online and distance education courses and programs, so this award is for the entire Worldwide eLearning staff here at the university.”
