Forty basic schools in the Eastern Region are benefiting from an interactive distance learning programme which is intended to make teaching and learning more interactive and child centered.
The project which is being piloted in the selected schools uses a satellite to transmit a live broadcast on selected topics in various subjects for both teachers and pupils.
The project called, “Train for Tomorrow”, which is being undertaken by an NGO, Valley Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Education has become necessary especially when researches have revealed that huge number of teachers in deprived areas are untrained and this is affecting the ability of students in those areas to perform creditably.
According to the project sponsors, it is likely to be adopted in the country if the pilot is successful.
