To keep pace with the popularity of the course, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has substantially increased the number of study centres under its distance education wing from this academic session. Admissions for the course will begin on Monday. “The number of study centres has been increased from 38 to 62 from the academic session 2015-16 to cater to the needs of students living in different parts of the country. We had received over 1 lakh applications for the 6,500 seats offered through the regular mode,” Vice-Chancellor Talat Ahmed told PTI. “The Centre for Distance and Open Learning (CDOL) will offer on-the-spot admission to eligible candidates from tomorrow. Admission can be sought in 18 different academic programmes at PG, UG, PG Diploma, Diploma and certificate levels,” Jamia spokesperson Mukesh Ranjan said.
Admissions will take place at CDOL, JMI as well as other centres located in Assam, Bihar, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Manipur, Meghalaya, Maharashtra, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and other states from July 27 to October 20, 2015. The university is also considering to increase the number of courses offered at CDOL from the next academic session.
